TRT and Hormone Testing for Dubai-Based Men: Start With Bloods
Dubai has world-class private medicine, and most expat men we speak to have already had a testosterone level run somewhere. What they usually don't have is the surrounding context: SHBG, LH, FSH, sensitive estradiol, prolactin and the metabolic markers that explain the reading. FORM is a pathology testing service based in Bali — a complete hormone and metabolic panel with a plain-English report reviewed by our medical lead. We do not prescribe, supply or arrange testosterone anywhere, including the UAE.
Why the full axis matters. A single total-testosterone figure cannot tell you whether a low result is testicular, pituitary or simply an SHBG artefact, and it cannot distinguish a hormone problem from the sleep debt, iron deficiency, insulin resistance or subclinical thyroid issue underneath it. That distinction is the entire point of a proper baseline, and it is the part most commonly skipped.
What FORM measures. The panel covers total and free testosterone (calculated from SHBG and albumin), sensitive estradiol, LH, FSH, prolactin, DHEA-S, AM cortisol, TSH with free T4 and free T3, fasting insulin, HbA1c, a full lipid panel, ferritin, vitamin D, vitamin B12, hsCRP and homocysteine. Samples are processed by internationally accredited partner laboratories, and free testosterone is calculated from SHBG and albumin rather than taken from an unreliable direct assay.
Who reads your results. Every panel is reviewed by Dr. Nikola Topalovic (MD PhD), FORM's medical lead, who is registered to practise in Indonesia. His review is expert health information explaining what your markers mean — it is not medical advice in your country of residence, and it is not a diagnosis. Any clinical decision belongs to a doctor registered where you live.
How Dubai-based clients do it. Denpasar is a direct overnight flight from Dubai on Emirates and flydubai — around nine hours — so most people fit the visit into a long weekend and need 48-72 hours on the ground for the draw and an in-person walk-through of the preliminary numbers. Fast overnight and get drawn between 7am and 10am; testosterone is highest in the morning and an afternoon sample is close to meaningless.
What FORM does not do. We do not prescribe, dispense or ship any medicine into the UAE, and we do not arrange access to prescription treatment. Testosterone is a controlled medicine in the UAE and can only be prescribed by a DHA or DOH-licensed physician after their own assessment. What travels home with you is a report and a set of accredited-lab numbers — nothing else.
Testing costs, for context. A comparable private hormone and metabolic work-up in Dubai typically runs AED 3,800-8,500. FORM's full panel is the AED equivalent of roughly 1,800-2,400, one-off, with the MD review included and nothing recurring. These are testing costs only; this page makes no comparison of treatment costs.
FAQs
- Does FORM prescribe or ship testosterone to the UAE?
- No. FORM is a pathology testing service — we test and explain results. Testosterone is a controlled medicine in the UAE and can only be prescribed by a DHA or DOH-licensed physician after their own assessment. We do not prescribe, supply, arrange or ship any medicine.
- How much does hormone testing cost in Dubai versus FORM?
- A full private hormone and metabolic work-up in Dubai (Mediclinic, Aster, King's College) typically runs AED 3,800-8,500. FORM's panel is the AED equivalent of roughly 1,800-2,400, one-off, including the MD review. Testing costs only.
- How long does the trip to Bali take?
- Direct overnight flights to Denpasar are about nine hours. Most Dubai-based clients allow 48-72 hours on the ground for the draw, the consult and an in-person review of preliminary results. Full results and the report follow within 7–14 days.
- Can I take the report to my doctor in Dubai?
- Yes, and that is what it is designed for. It sets out each marker, your value, the reference range and what is flagged, in language a clinician can read quickly. What happens next is entirely your doctor's call.
- Do you serve men elsewhere in the Gulf — Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Doha, Riyadh?
- Yes, the process is identical across the GCC. Most Gulf-based clients fly to Bali for the draw and consult and take the results back to a doctor at home.
