TRT and Hormone Testing for Bangkok Expats: Start With Bloods
Bangkok has the densest men's-health market in the region, and the quality range runs from excellent to purely commercial. The most common gap is the same everywhere: a decision framed around one hormone number, with no surrounding data. FORM is a pathology testing service in Bali — a full hormone, thyroid and metabolic panel with a plain-English report reviewed by our medical lead. We do not prescribe, supply or arrange testosterone; we make sure you know what your numbers say.
What a complete baseline answers. Whether a low reading is real or a timing artefact. Whether it is testicular or pituitary in origin. Whether SHBG is distorting the total figure. Whether estradiol or prolactin explains the symptoms. And whether the underlying driver is actually metabolic — insulin resistance, iron deficiency, low vitamin D, thyroid dysfunction — which is common enough that skipping those markers is a genuine oversight rather than a cost saving.
What FORM measures. The panel covers total and free testosterone (calculated from SHBG and albumin), sensitive estradiol, LH, FSH, prolactin, DHEA-S, AM cortisol, TSH with free T4 and free T3, fasting insulin, HbA1c, a full lipid panel, ferritin, vitamin D, vitamin B12, hsCRP and homocysteine. Samples run at internationally accredited Indonesian partner laboratories (Prodia, Pramita).
Who reads your results. Every panel is reviewed by Dr. Nikola Topalovic (MD PhD), FORM's medical lead, who is registered to practise in Indonesia. His review is expert health information explaining what your markers mean — it is not medical advice in your country of residence, and it is not a diagnosis. Any clinical decision belongs to a doctor registered where you live.
The trip. Bangkok to Bali is a four-hour direct flight on Thai Airways, Vietjet, AirAsia or Garuda. Most clients book it as a long weekend: Friday evening flight, Saturday morning fasted draw and consult, Sunday or Monday return, with the full report following within 7–14 days. Morning draws matter — testosterone peaks early and an afternoon sample will understate it.
No dispensing, no recurring commitment. FORM sells the panel and the expert review of it. There is nothing to prescribe, nothing to dispense and no membership, which is precisely why the report has no commercial reason to point in any particular direction. Testosterone is a regulated prescription medicine in Thailand; only a Thai-registered physician can assess whether any treatment is appropriate for you.
Testing costs, for context. Comparable private hospital hormone work-ups in Bangkok run THB 18,000-35,000. FORM's one-off panel is the THB equivalent of roughly 14,000-19,000, MD review included. Testing costs only — this page makes no comparison of treatment costs.
FAQs
- Why not just use a Bangkok men's health clinic?
- Some are excellent. The question worth asking any of them is what the baseline panel includes — without LH, FSH, SHBG, sensitive estradiol and prolactin, nobody can explain why a testosterone reading is what it is. FORM exists for men who want that complete baseline, independently, before anything else.
- How much does the trip from Bangkok cost?
- Direct return flights run THB 6,000-15,000 depending on carrier and season. FORM's full panel is the THB equivalent of roughly 14,000-19,000, one-off, including the MD review.
- Can I take the report to a Bangkok doctor?
- Yes — that is what it is for. It presents each marker, your value, the reference range and what is flagged, in a form a clinician can read quickly. Any clinical decision is theirs to make.
- How long do I need on the ground in Bali?
- 48-72 hours covers the fasted morning draw, the consult with our medical lead and an in-person review of preliminary results. Full results and the expert-reviewed report follow within 7–14 days.
- Does FORM prescribe or supply anything?
- No. FORM is a pathology testing service. We do not prescribe, supply, arrange or ship any medicine in any market we serve.
