Apolipoprotein B (ApoB)
ApoB counts the number of atherogenic particles in the blood — every LDL, VLDL, and Lp(a) carries one ApoB. Mechanistically the most accurate single lipid read for cardiovascular risk.

- Units
- g/L
- Reference range
- <1.0 g/L (general); <0.8 g/L (high CV risk)
What does a high Apolipoprotein B result mean?
Familial hypercholesterolaemia, insulin resistance, hypothyroidism, ageing. Strongly predictive of cardiovascular events.
What does a low Apolipoprotein B result mean?
Often genetic; sometimes malabsorption.
Why does Apolipoprotein B matter?
ApoB beats LDL-C in current evidence. Most standard panels don't include it; FORM does.
Want Apolipoprotein B interpreted in the context of your full panel? Every FORM bloodwork tier covers it, with an MD walking you through the result.
