Essential exists for the man who has been wondering — about energy, libido, sleep, recovery, body composition — and wants a real answer instead of guessing. It is the panel we recommend when there is no prior bloodwork in the last 12 months, or when older results never measured the markers that actually drive men's health.

It is not a TRT-monitoring panel. If you are already on testosterone therapy, or if you are deep into a structured optimisation programme, the Pro or Elite Protocol tiers carry the markers (free T sensitive, estradiol, LH, FSH, cortisol, expanded thyroid) that those use cases require.

Hormonal Health covers total testosterone, calculated free testosterone, and SHBG — the three numbers that together tell you whether bioavailable testosterone is in the optimal third of the reference range or sitting near the bottom. Total testosterone alone misses up to a third of symptomatic men because high SHBG drops the active fraction below the symptom threshold while total looks normal.

Metabolism & Weight Control covers the cardiometabolic core: fasting glucose, HbA1c, the full lipid panel (HDL, LDL, total, triglycerides). This is where the early signal of insulin resistance, fatty liver, and atherogenic dyslipidaemia shows up — usually years before a GP notes it on a single fasting glucose.

The Full Blood Count + Inflammation block covers red cell production, oxygen-carrying capacity, and the basic immune compartments. Liver and Kidney panels check the silent organs that determine whether the lifestyle inputs you are running (alcohol load, training volume, protein intake) are sustainable.

Every Essential panel comes back with two layers. First, the lab report itself with every marker plotted against the local reference range. Second, a FORM-formatted summary that flags the markers sitting in the bottom or top quartile of the reference range — the optimal-range view, not just the in-range view a standard GP printout shows.

If anything is out of range, the report says what it likely indicates and what the next test step would be. We do not over-extrapolate from a 32-marker baseline; we tell you whether you have enough information to act, or whether the next panel up (Pro) would unlock the diagnostic clarity worth paying for.

Turnaround on the lab side typically runs 3–5 business days from draw; your FORM dashboard updates the moment results arrive. Many Australian private health funds rebate part of the panel under their extras / diagnostic imaging allowance — exact eligibility depends on your fund and tier, and we provide an itemised receipt and any Medicare item numbers that apply to the markers in your panel.
