TRT in London: What Bloods You Need First
London has excellent private endocrinology and prices to match, and a great deal of direct-to-consumer hormone testing that is thinner than it looks. FORM is a pathology testing service: an accredited-lab hormone, thyroid and metabolic panel with a plain-English report reviewed by our medical lead, Dr. Nikola Topalovic (MD PhD). We do not prescribe, supply or arrange testosterone. The aim is simple — a complete, correctly-timed baseline you actually understand.
What separates a real baseline from a screen. The number most London panels lead with, total testosterone, is the least informative one in isolation. It moves with time of day, sleep, illness and training load, and it says nothing about how much testosterone is available to tissue. SHBG, albumin, LH, FSH, prolactin and sensitive estradiol are what turn a figure into an interpretation, and they are the markers most often missing from the results men bring us.
FORM's panel is broader than most London private screens at a similar price point: the full HPG axis, sensitive estradiol, thyroid, fasting insulin and HbA1c, lipids, ferritin, vitamin D, vitamin B12 and inflammatory markers. Free testosterone is calculated from SHBG and albumin rather than taken from an unreliable direct assay. The consult is 1:1 with our medical lead rather than a twelve-minute slot.
Who reads your results. Dr. Nikola Topalovic (MD PhD) reviews every panel. He is registered to practise in Indonesia and is not GMC-registered, so his review is expert health information rather than UK medical advice — an explanation of each marker and what deserves your own doctor's attention. Testosterone is a prescription-only medicine and a Class C controlled drug in the UK; only a UK-registered doctor can assess whether treatment is appropriate, and FORM plays no part in that.
Practicalities. LHR and LGW connect to Denpasar with a single stop, typically via Singapore, Dubai or Doha, and most London clients build the draw into a longer trip: fasted morning draw early on, report in hand within 7–14 days. Take it to an NHS or private GP in London as the factual starting point for that conversation.
FAQs
- Why get tested through FORM rather than a London lab?
- Breadth and interpretation. Many direct-to-consumer London panels report a handful of hormones against a reference range with no clinician involved. FORM runs the full axis plus the metabolic and nutritional markers that explain it, and an MD reviews every result in plain English.
- Who reviews my panel?
- Dr. Nikola Topalovic (MD PhD), FORM's medical lead, who is registered to practise in Indonesia and is not GMC-registered. His review is general health information about your markers, not UK medical advice.
- What does hormone testing cost in London?
- Private hormone and metabolic screens in London commonly run £200-450, with consultant-led work-ups higher. FORM's full panel is roughly £350-550 GBP one-off, expert review included. Testing costs only.
