What you can test in Gold Coast. The full panel covers total and free testosterone (calculated from SHBG and albumin), sensitive estradiol, LH, FSH, prolactin, DHEA-S and morning cortisol; TSH with free T4 and free T3; fasting glucose, insulin and HbA1c; a full lipid profile including ApoB; liver, kidney and full blood count; ferritin and iron studies, vitamin D, vitamin B12 and folate; and inflammatory markers. The breadth is the point — a low testosterone reading is frequently downstream of poor sleep, iron deficiency, thyroid dysfunction, insulin resistance or chronic inflammation, and none of that is visible on a hormone-only screen.

How collection works. Collection runs through an accredited walk-in pathology network — you book online, choose a collection centre near you, and go in when it suits. No appointment queue at a GP first, and no referral required for the panels FORM sells. Bring photo ID and your request form. Fast for 8–12 hours if your panel includes glucose, insulin or lipids, drink water normally, and aim for a draw between 7am and 10am so the hormone markers are comparable to their reference ranges.

The Gold Coast has an unusually high density of gyms, physique competitors and fly-in-fly-out workers, and all three groups get misread by narrow testing. Shift rotation wrecks cortisol timing, aggressive cutting suppresses thyroid output and testosterone, and both look like pathology on a hormone-only screen unless the rest of the panel is there to give context.

What the public system covers, and what it does not. A Medicare benefit is only payable for tests requested by a treating practitioner where the item meets the Medicare Benefits Schedule criteria. Tests you order yourself are not eligible for a rebate, and several markers on a comprehensive panel — free T3, sensitive estradiol, ApoB, Lp(a), fasting insulin — are commonly not rebated even when a GP orders them. That is the trade-off: you pay for the panel, and in exchange you get the full picture in one draw rather than a partial screen spread across several visits.

Accredited pathology. Australian samples are collected and analysed by Laverty Pathology (Healius), a NATA-accredited laboratory network assessed to ISO 15189 (Medical laboratories — requirements for quality and competence) against RCPA-aligned standards.

A Medicare benefit is only payable when a treating practitioner requests the test and the request meets the relevant MBS item criteria.
